Update: I ended up dipping into this quite a bit before I actually finished it, wanting to take it slow in understanding the biology and how the research progressed. This is an invaluable book for a broad overview of how medicine has approached this perplexing disease--how naive we were not so long ago to think there would be one magic bullet that would be a cure. It's impossible not to feel intensely thankful that I'm still here to finish reading this book.
I started this last night--hugely informative and well-written. I wish I'd had this book to serve as a sort of fourth oncologist over the summer.
